What is billed to be the ultimate test of man and machine, the 24 Hours of Daytona started today January 29th at 3:30 pm and will run through tomorrow January 30th at 3:30 pm on the 3.56 mile road course. The Daytona 24 Hour race has been through numerous corporate sponsors and is currently known as the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. I remember the non-sponsorship days of racing when life was simple and the Firecracker 400 was still called the Firecracker 400 and the Daytona 24 Hour was still called the same.
The 24 hour race is a grueling non-stop race usually run with a team of 3 to 4 drivers. There are also plenty of events scheduled during the race such as a chili cook off, wine and cheese tasting, fireworks and more. Check your local listings to watch on TV live from Daytona Beach Florida.
